Géza Sáli studied playing the violin for twelve years. Afterwards he was educated in the craft of violin- and bow making for which he received his master craftsman's certificate at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. His second master examination took place in Vienna.
He has been living and working in Graz since 1989 where (aside from reparations and restaurations) he focuses on his passion, the making of french style bows.
As an active violin player he pays special attention to small details in sound as well as to problems caused by the material in use which affect the instrument play. The triangle consisting of musician, instrument and bow has to be in balance. Minor changes in this structure can cause major shifts in sound - this is barely affected by the musicians skill.
In addition to various optimizations Geza Sáli makes custom bows which are specially adapted to the musician and follow ones needs. The customers have the possibility to try the bows to their full extent at home before taking a decision. Fine adjustments can be made after that to reach the sound potential of bow and instrument.
